Inspired by William Morris's (British. 1834–1896) Violet and Columbine. a textile design registered in 1883. this placemat was developed through contemporary weaving techniques with a nod to traditional craftsmanship. Sketching and digital rendering in the Chilewich design studio helped translate the inspiration into a modern woven structure. bringing new functionality to its organic forms. rich colors. and complex pattern repeats.
